Traveling and Fitness

One of the biggest issues with not having a car is that I have to conform to the guy’s schedule. They both like to work out in the AM (also, they like to work until 5:30 or 6). I am not a morning workout person. It is absolutely not what I want to get out of bed for.

But, right now I have no choice. So, for the past 2 days I have been on a treadmill before 6AM. I don’t run- I’d like to, but for some reason, running on a treadmill hurts. I think I must do it wrong, which would seem impossible, but I can run on roads. I mean, I was working on becoming a runner this fall. (I hurt my knee, which was a setback.). So, I walk. And then I hop on the bike.

I’d like to lose weight, and truthfully I could stand to. However, the travel is a stressor, the long hours are a stressor, and I can’t add to that thinking about every bite that I put into my mouth. I’ve decided I’ll watch quantity- I feel a little guilty because I leave a decent amount of food on my plate and never take it home, but it’s not really practical to do so, and set my goal at not gaining any weight. Not the loftiest, but achievable.

Six-Week Fitness Challenge

So, one of my friends came up with the idea of a fitness challenge- her high school reunion (10?) is coming up in six weeks. She thought having a support network would help. As I have really fallen off of the fitness bandwagon lately (and by fallen off, I mean that the bandwagon is in St. Louis whilst I remain in Raleigh) I agreed to join. For the first week (which actually starts Monday), my goal is to follow the Weight Watchers points system and get some form of a workout 4 days that week. Since I have volleyball one day and riding another, I really only need worry about 2 days. I am hoping that the fear of letting my girls down will help me get back to a semi-healthy lifestyle.

Also, I think I agreed to celebrate my 31st birthday here.*

*Walking. The half.

Back to it

I re-joined Weight Watchers last night.  Put on some pounds with the studying.  For me, WW works- I've got to stick to it this time, though.  New weigh-in date is Wednesday.  (I liked the group and the leader last night.)

Quitter!

That's what I am.  I quit Weight Watchers several weeks ago.  Why?  The program was good for me- it has made me more aware of what I am eating and I do make better choices, but I was no longer benefiting.  I was simply paying them for the privilege of weighing me every week.

And I?  Own a scale.  Not that I've used it.  However, I can tell you that when I did the closet clean-out, I discovered that several pairs of pants that used to fit and then didn't now fit again.  So that's something.  Also, I can almost (almost) fit into my "skinny" pants.

So this is how it went down

I had a doctor's appointment today that ran late, so I missed Pilates.  I did make it to Weigh-in, where I found out I lost 0.8 lbs.  That's actually quite good, when you consider the loss of 6.6 lbs. last week.  And all of the going out to lunch with my co-workers.   And eating out Saturday and Sunday.  Y'all, I am a very bad dieter.

Back on track

So, last week I didn't post after weigh-in, because I had a gain.  A fairly significant gain.  But this week I stuck to the plan, did what I was supposed to, and lost that gain plus an additional 2.6 lbs.  Total loss is now at 10.6 lbs.

Good luck, Crazy Girl!

For those of you who do not recognize the title, it's a line from Bridget Jones's Diary, which was on last night.  I identify with Bridget especially in the beginning of the movie.  I do have a good group of friends (Well, I do lack the gay male friend.  Applications for this position are currently being accepted.). (Also, if any of you ever cause me to be thrown into a Thai prison, I WILL CUT YOU when my barrister ex-boyfriend negotiates my release.), but am looking for that person who likes me "just as I am".  Maybe I'll find him, maybe not.  Who knows?

Weigh-in today.  Another 1.2 lbs gone.

Buh-bye holiday weight

This week I lost 3.4 pounds.

Total lost:  6.2 lbs.

All this in a week where I got to go to my favorite restaurant.  Yummy!

Watergirl's World: Now with weigh-ins every Monday!

I was a little nervous about last night's weigh-in.  I felt like I hadn't been a good "weight-watcher".  Turned out that I am down 2.8 lbs.  Just gotta stick with it to the end this time.  Y'all are going to help me, as I will be reporting my progress.

Guess who's back...

at WeightWatchers?   And also the gym?  Yep, that'd be me.  Getting the fitness plan back on track.  Will help me reach some of those 101 in 1001 goals.
