Last Wednesday, PB and I boarded a plane headed for Orlando. Well, first we boarded and then deplaned and then reboarded a plane to Atlanta, where our connection was. There was a ground stop due to high winds in Atlanta.
Luckily our connection was also delayed.
Not by much, though, when we got there we went to the gate and it was boarding already. Then we realized PB left our boarding passes on the other plane, so he ran back to that gate, where they printed new boarding passes.
We arrived about 40 minutes later than scheduled, which wasn't bad, considering. We met up with Phoebs and waited for Angeler. She arrived, we got our car (National Emerald Club, meaning we got to pick our own car) and headed out to eat.
After dinner they dropped us off at our hotel (they used points for theirs, which was much more expensive than ours) and went to theirs. We found out the next day that they had trouble finding it.
Thursday we went to Epcot. I had never been there. It is awesome. I had purchased new Tevas for walking around in, only to discover they weren't actually so good for that. Hello blisters and achy achy feet. (Also, the sole started separating from the shoe. I'd had them less than a week, so I returned them.) We ate lunch in Germany. The beer and pretzels were good. The bratwurst was bratwurst. We had dinner in Mexico and it was fantastic. Fantastic! Also, I was complimented on my Spanish.
Moral: Eat in Mexico, skip Germany. Also, taste wines in Germany and Italy. Possibly France, but by then we were playing the Kim Possible game, so we didn't stop for wine.
And ride Soarin'. And the boat ride through the greenhouse.
The next day we headed out to the Astronaut Hall of Fame to see the shuttle launch. We had a blanket and chairs plus a picnic and were prepared to hang out until the launch, scheduled for 3:47 PM. PB and I went and checked out the museum while Angeler and Phoebs held our spot. We switched off so that they could see it too, but our stuff wasn't unguarded.
The launch was scrubbed around noon due to faulty heaters. We were majorly disappointed. We decided to hang out and miss the traffic, which just continued t get worse. Finally it was decided that we'd go to Kennedy Space Center proper.
I was less than impressed. There were several reasons for this. First of all, I had been hoping to get back for dinner with PB's cousin-in-law, and now I knew we wouldn't make it. I had also hoped for some hot tub time after dinner. I was tired and wanted to relax. Secondly, although I was excited about the prospect of a shuttle launch, the whole space program holds little interest to me.
Once we headed back to Orlando at about 7, it was decided that we'd go to Margaritaville for dinner, which was ok, except for the anticipated wait. The wait turned out to be not that long and the food was very good, as were the drinks. PB and I would have liked to spend more time in Citywalk (at Universal, and where Margaritaville is located) but we had an early flight the next day, so we headed back to the hotel and fell into bed.
