Christmas Coup

PB and I had bought my brother a book for Christmas but were still looking for something else. We went into our local Barnes and Noble and were looking at books on Scotch and home brewing, both things my brother is interested in. We each picked up a book on Scotch.

WG: What do you think of this one?
PB: I don’t know, this one might be better. It’s more of an encyclopedia type.
WG: I like this one. It has really good pictures, and hey, he’s also a photographer.

After Christmas, Bud was discussing the book he’d gotten with a friend who is also into Scotch. He looked up at me and asked, “Did you spend $90 on this book?”

WG: No.
PB: I didn’t think you liked me that much.

(I do like him. However, that was way over the budget for everyone but PB. Who doesn’t like Scotch.)

Turns out, the book is out of print, rare, and popular, and copies are quite expensive.

Well, unless you randomly stumble upon a copy at Barnes and Noble. (Note that it isn’t even on their website.)
