So, last weekend I headed up to Boston. I’d not been there for a few years and it’s my favorite city in the U.S., so I decided I wanted to go this year. I planned my trip to coincide with Sail Boston, because hello? Ships? I’m so there.
I left Friday morning, and after some crazy airport scrambling arrived at Logan around 4:30. Since I would never ask anyone to drive into and then out of Logan at that time, I took the T out to Davis Square to meet the lovely Janet , hostess with the mostest. Megan came with. I sat in Davis Square waiting for them to arrive, enjoying the cacophony of car horns. See, in the South? We don’t use the horn much. In MA? It’s clearly wrong not to. I was also enjoying the lack of humidity. And the conversations I overheard. Such as the guy behind me telling his friend, completely matter-of-factly, “You know I cheated when I was married, right?” Yea, that’s not a big deal. Then Janet and Megan came (no, really, it was right after that remark), we put my suitcase in her car and got back on the T to go to Harvard Square.
So that I could go to Lush. We also went to dinner (Hello yummy!) and poked around the non-clothing section of Urban Outfitters.
Saturday was Tall Ships! We hit the World Trade Center piers first and then went to the Charlestown Navy Yard. Yes, the ships were placed that far apart. Ships = awesome. And also tall. On our way to Charlestown, I was taking some water from Janet’s Sigg bottle when I dropped the cap. Which proceeded to roll onto the tracks. (Note: brief fleeting though of jumping onto the tracks to retrieve it.)
Am awesome.
After our big day touring boats, we headed back to Janet’s where she had a lovely dinner party. Well, we stopped at the grocery store first, and I wandered around looking for beer. Which they do not sell in grocery stores in Massachusetts.
Anyway, dinner party. Megan, Michelle and Lisa came. We had lasagna and this crazy angel food cake which is made by taking an angel food cake mix and adding a can of crushed pineapple. Is delicious. We then played Apples to Apples and I spilled red wine on Janet’s rug.
See? Awesome.
(This was my first blogger meetup- I've considered them friends for years (with the exception of Lisa, but that's because, hey, didn't know about her until Saturday) but we haven't met in person. I'm glad they they are all actual real-life friends now, and I want to thank Janet for being so welcoming.)
