Here's what I'm thinking

I'm thinking about buying a bike. It seems Richmond has quite a few trails, some of them near work. In theory, I could throw the bike and a change of clothes in the car and go from here.

Of course, I had a bike for 3 years. I never rode it because it needed work, and I just never got it fixed. (In fact, before I moved, I gave it to Stew.) But now I want one. So, I'm really thinking I should buy a used one, but for obvious reasons I don't want to get one needing work. I don't want a mountain bike- I'm thinking more road/touring. But, if I want to take it on some of the gravel trails, will that work?

I don't know. It's quite the conundrum.

Oh! And also, I now have a set of golf clubs. So, I need to learn how to golf. I'm thing the first step is lessons a a driving range. Thoughts?

I started golfing last year quite by mistake when my parents asked me to be their third person so they would not have to be paired up with strangers. Never having set foot on a golf course before I went and loved it. The key is don't ever ever want to be good or care if you are good...then you will be relaxed and do better. yes the driving range is a good way to start. I also think that taking a few lessons helped me alot in understanding how to hit a ball and get it to go where you want. I took 6 lessons but honestly I think 3 is a fine place to start. Ask at the driving range you go to they often have cheaper "professional" lessons rather than taking a lesson from a "pro". We can certainly hit the range when you come to visit! As for a bike I am looking at a few too - the trick I think is looking for a "hybrid" bike - it is a combination of on and off-road tires. Smooth in the middle with some nubbiness for mild trail riding.
