A case of "maybe you should read your own advice, dumbass"

OK, so, as we all know, I am back on the online dating. I've reactivated my profile on eHarmony. Now, I don't pay for it, because I think eHarmony is actually the worst online dating site out there. However, I find it amusing to see which guys close me right away, and what reason they give. (Most common reason: "Other".) Anyway, I received some new matches today, and 4 of them closed me before I even got up. One of them was from Midlothian, VA, and he gave two reasons:
1. I think the physical distance between us is too great. (Fair, except that TRgirl and Randy live up there, so I know that it's not actually that bad.)
2. I don't feel that the chemistry is there.

That one I find odd. I mean, you don't feel any chemistry with my profile? What? How did you expect there would be chemistry after reading one page about me?

I checked out his profile anyway, which contains this gem:

Some additional information (name deleted to protected privacy of strange man) wanted you to know is:

* We are too quick to judge, I believe in giving people a chance. That goes with dating too, if you're reading this, you too are probably picky, which is why we are here, single, and looking. That's fine as we shouldn't settle and we want to be happy, but don't be afraid to go on ONE date with someone, you may learn a lot more in person and realize they are someone special!

I often wondered the same thing...It's nice to see that there are some NONJUDGMENTAL men out there....(end sarcastic tone)

Never having used an online dating service myself I find them fascinating in the same way that people watching is one of my favorite hobbies. I don't think people - all of us in fact - realize how often we unknowingly can contradict our own selves. I also love the line between painting a good picture of yourself vs lying vs being too honest too soon. My friend is using a different online service and there was one guy who she initally liked *until she read this*. "I am just as happy going out on a date, a night on the town as I am staying home and rolling around on the couch!" *shakes my head* what an idiot he is. Good luck and have fun!

I was fortunate enough to only have to look online for a very short time before I was lucky enough to meet Andy, offline, I might add. My sister is online, no luck yet... I hear good and bad things about it... Good luck!
