Dilemma
|
I just received an e-mail about the first Water for Life Dinner planning committee meeting. I don't know what to do. (Well, I know what to do about that particular meeting. I'll be at the beach.) I believe in the cause, I have very good friends on the committee, and I've done it for 5 years now. However, the last dinner left quite a sour taste in my mouth. I did not even want to attend the event. I don't know that I'm far enough removed from that to join next year's committee yet. I don't even know that I want to be involved at all.

tough call. May I ask why the last dinner wasn't very good?
And how are you finding The Year of Magical Thinking?

I always believe in "to thine own self be true", and after that do what you can and feel good about in life. If this isn't your thing then just don't do it. Only you know for sure.
Good luck!

Seriously. Follow your gut. Don't guilt yourself into doing it.
A simple, "Thanks for thinking of me, but that's not something I want to take on right now" will work.

Life is short, and it sounds like you've done your share already. Let it slide, I say, and go have fun instead.

Late thought on this, but I had predicted you would be thinking this very sentiment. And I see it in your blog! You missed the first meeting where we were able to address the "problems" of last year, particulary with role clarity. So, much happier thing this year, and we were able to address the "scars" from last year, FWIW.
